The series is the\u00a0<a title=\"Sequel\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sequel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sequel<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<i><a title=\"Velvet (TV series)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Velvet_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Velvet<\/a><\/i>, which was created for\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Antena 3 (Spain)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antena_3_(Spain)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antena 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first season contains 10 episodes, and premiered on 21 September 2017 on\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Cero (TV channel)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cero_(TV_channel)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#0<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Movistar+\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Movistar%2B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Movistar+<\/a>&lsquo;s\u00a0<a title=\"Video on demand\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Video_on_demand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VOD<\/a>\u00a0service.<\/p>\n<p><sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>The series, set in\u00a0<a title=\"Barcelona\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barcelona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barcelona<\/a>\u00a0in the 1960s, follows the opening of a new Galer\u00edas Velvet fashion store.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>On 4 October 2017, the series was renewed for a second season.<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The series was initially renewed for a third season in 2018, but on 8 March 2019, it was announced that instead of the third series, there would be a Christmas Special, shown in 2019, closing the series.<sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>After three years living in\u00a0<a title=\"New York City\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York City<\/a>\u00a0with her husband Alberto and their son, Ana Rivera returns to Spain to further expand their project. Alberto and Ana have managed the company from afar, and have ensured, together with their colleagues and friends, it stays a benchmark for fashion and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Now the company is opening a new branch at\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia, Barcelona\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Passeig_de_Gr%C3%A0cia,_Barcelona\" target=\"_blank\" d&rsquo;Yquem<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Ruinart (Champagne)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ruinart_(Champagne)\">Ruinart<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite LVMH&rsquo;s majority ownership, the Krug family is still actively involved in all the key decisions of the house but does not manage the day-to-day operations.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Wine_1-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Mo\u00ebt &amp; Chandon&rsquo;s\u00a0<a title=\"Dom P\u00e9rignon\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dom_P%C3%A9rignon\">Dom P\u00e9rignon<\/a>\u00a0is often compared to Krug, the latter being described as a \u00ab\u00a0more intellectual wine\u00a0\u00bb by\u00a0<a title=\"Jancis Robinson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jancis_Robinson\">Jancis Robinson<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<div class=\"mw-heading mw-heading2\"><\/div>\n<p>Joseph Krug founded the House of Krug in 1843.<\/p>\n<p><sup id=\"cite_ref-Oxford_3-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>He was born Johann-Joseph Krug, a butcher&rsquo;s son, in\u00a0<a title=\"Mainz\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mainz\">Mainz<\/a>, on the\u00a0<a title=\"Rhine\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rhine\">Rhine<\/a>, in 1800, at a time when the city was part of the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Napoleonic Empire\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Napoleonic_Empire\">Napoleonic Empire<\/a>. Having dispensed with the name Johann, he left Mainz in 1824 and by 1834 he was in Paris. Germans were then much in demand in France as accountants and book-keepers and, as such, Joseph joined\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Champagne Jacquesson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Champagne_Jacquesson\">Champagne Jacquesson<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Ch\u00e2lons-sur-Marne\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ch%C3%A2lons-sur-Marne\">Ch\u00e2lons-sur-Marne<\/a>.<sup class=\"noprint Inline-Template Template-Fact\">[<i><a title=\"Wikipedia:Citation needed\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Citation_needed\"><span title=\"This claim needs references to reliable sources. (September 2024)\">citation needed<\/span><\/a><\/i>]<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>He spent eight years with Jacquesson, with his work taking him beyond accountancy as he went on the road around Europe testing the market and assessing criticism from wine sellers and customers.<\/p>\n<p>He learned about composition and taste so that by 1840 he already seems to have been blending Champagne for at least one other house.<sup id=\"cite_ref-MacQuitty_4-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>In 1841 he married Emma-Anne Jaunay, the daughter of a French hotelier based in London&rsquo;s\u00a0<a title=\"Leicester Square\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Leicester_Square\">Leicester Square<\/a>, and an English mother. The following year their son, Paul Krug, was born.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Times_1999_5-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>In 1842 came the move to Reims and, following a year of negotiations, Krug et Cie. was founded in 1843 with sleeping partner Hyppolite de Viv\u00e8s. Joseph was also fluent in French, English and German and spoke some Russian, putting the company in position to exploit key overseas markets.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Arlott_6-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Joseph died in 1866 and was succeeded by his son Paul Krug, who had been trained by his father for the business in France and abroad. Joseph had laid the foundations and under the supervision of Paul the House was established as a\u00a0<i>grande marque<\/i>. By the 1880s the prestige of Krug was acknowledged in the United Kingdom, then the primary overseas market for Champagne.<\/p>\n<p><sup id=\"cite_ref-Arlott_6-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>In 1866 the House moved into the premises in Rue Coquebert, in Reims, that it still occupies.<\/p>\n<p>After Paul&rsquo;s death in 1910, he was succeeded by his son, Joseph Krug II. However, during\u00a0<a title=\"World War I\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_War_I\">World War I<\/a>\u00a0Joseph II was taken prisoner and his wife Jeanne played a key role in the House, at a time when the\u00a0<a title=\"Western Front (World War I)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_Front_(World_War_I)\">Western Front<\/a>\u00a0divided the region between the Allies and the Germans. After the war, Joseph II&rsquo;s slow recovery led to his nephew Jean Seydoux becoming joint manager in 1924. In that decade, too, the Krug 1926 and 1928\u00a0<a title=\"Vintage\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vintage\">vintages<\/a>\u00a0were created, which have been considered by critics to be amongst the greatest Champagnes.<\/p>\n<p><sup id=\"cite_ref-Arlott_6-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>The lawyer and wine writer\u00a0<a class=\"new\" title=\"Maurice Healey (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Maurice_Healey&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Maurice Healey<\/a>\u00a0observed in 1940 that \u00ab\u00a0Krug holds my allegiance as the king of them all; my recollection does not go beyond the Krug 1919, but that was truly an excellent wine.
