The Hour<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a British television drama series broadcast on\u00a0BBC<\/a>. The series was centred on a fictional\u00a0current-affairs<\/a>\u00a0show being launched by the BBC in June 1956, at the time of the\u00a0Hungarian Revolution<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Suez Crisis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It stars\u00a0Ben Whishaw<\/a>,\u00a0Dominic West<\/a>, and\u00a0Romola Garai<\/a>, with a supporting cast including\u00a0Tim Pigott-Smith<\/a>,\u00a0Juliet Stevenson<\/a>,\u00a0Burn Gorman<\/a>,\u00a0Anton Lesser<\/a>,\u00a0Anna Chancellor<\/a>,\u00a0Julian Rhind-Tutt<\/a>, and\u00a0Oona Chaplin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was written by\u00a0Abi Morgan<\/a>\u00a0(also one of the executive producers, alongside Jane Featherstone and\u00a0Derek Wax<\/a>).<\/p>\n

<\/sup><\/sup>Each episode lasts 60 minutes, with Ruth Kenley-Letts as producer and\u00a0Coky Giedroyc<\/a>\u00a0as lead director.<\/p>\n

It was commissioned by\u00a0Janice Hadlow<\/a>, Controller, BBC Two, and\u00a0Ben Stephenson<\/a>, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning and produced by Kudos Film and Television.\u00a0Hornsey Town Hall<\/a>\u00a0was used for much of the filming.<\/p>\n

Following the airing of the final episode of the first series, it was announced that a second series had been commissioned, which was co-produced by American network\u00a0BBC America<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/sup>It premiered on 14 November 2012 in the UK and on 28 November 2012 in the United States. On 12 February 2013, it was announced by the BBC that the series would not continue.<\/sup><\/p>\n
