The man behind\u00a0Downton Abbey<\/i>\u00a0is back with a new historical series,\u00a0Belgravia,<\/i>\u00a0which It premieres tonight, April 12, at 9 p.m. ET on Epix.<\/p>\n

Belgravia is a six-part series that follows two mothers, Anne Trenchard (Tamsin Greig) and noblewoman Caroline, Countess of Brockenhurst (Harriet Walter), as they try to protect their dead children\u2019s inheritances. The women, who are from different classes, are grudgingly bonded by a grandchild. The show is called\u00a0Belgravia<\/i> because it\u2019s the name of the London neighborhood they live in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to be working again with Julian, a master storyteller,\u201d executive producer Gareth Neame said in a statement. \u201cIn\u00a0Belgravia<\/i>, he has painted a wonderful backdrop of 19th century society against which intrigue and dynastic power struggles will play out.<\/p>\n

In addition to\u00a0Belgravia<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Downton Abbey<\/i>, Fellowes was also behind\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/i>\u00a0(2004),\u00a0Doctor Thorne<\/i> (2016)\u00a0 and\u00a0The Chaperone\u00a0<\/i>(2018).<\/p>\n

Belgravia<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a British\u00a0historical drama<\/a>\u00a0television series, set in the 19th century, based on the 2016 novel of the same name by\u00a0Julian Fellowes<\/a>\u2014both named after\u00a0Belgravia<\/a>, an affluent district of\u00a0London<\/a>. The limited series, a co-production between\u00a0Carnival Films<\/a>\u00a0and American cable network\u00a0Epix<\/a>, is adapted by Fellowes from his novel, and reunites the production team behind\u00a0Downton Abbey<\/a><\/i>\u00a0with\u00a0Gareth Neame<\/a>\u00a0and Nigel Marchant executive producing alongside Liz Trubridge and Fellowes.<\/p>\n

Belgravia<\/i>\u00a0is directed by\u00a0John Alexander<\/a>, and produced by\u00a0Colin Wratten<\/a>.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The series premiered in the UK on\u00a0ITV<\/a>\u00a0on 15 March 2020 and in the U.S. on 12 April 2020 on Epix.<\/p>\n

<\/sup><\/sup><\/sup>A follow-up series,\u00a0Belgravia: The Next Chapter<\/a><\/i>, written and developed by\u00a0Helen Edmundson<\/a>\u00a0was announced in September 2022, and premiered in January 2024.<\/sup><\/p>\n

Belgravia<\/i>\u00a0begins at the\u00a0Duchess of Richmond’s ball<\/a>\u00a0(an actual event held the night of 15\/16 June 1815), which was held in\u00a0Brussels<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0Duke of Wellington<\/a>\u00a0on the eve of the\u00a0Battle of Quatre Bras<\/a>, two days before the\u00a0Battle of Waterloo<\/a>. Among the guests are James and Anne Trenchard, who are living on the profits of newfound trading success. Their young daughter Sophia has caught the eye of Edmund Bellasis, the son and heir of one of the richest and most prominent families in England.<\/p>\n
