The Regime<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is an American\u00a0political satire<\/a>\u00a0miniseries<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0HBO<\/a>\u00a0starring\u00a0Kate Winslet<\/a>,\u00a0Matthias Schoenaerts<\/a>,\u00a0Guillaume Gallienne<\/a>,\u00a0Andrea Riseborough<\/a>,\u00a0Martha Plimpton<\/a>, and\u00a0Hugh Grant<\/a>. Will Tracy is writer and executive producer on the series with\u00a0Stephen Frears<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jessica Hobbs<\/a>\u00a0directing episodes and executive producing. Winslet,\u00a0Frank Rich<\/a>, and\u00a0Tracey Seaward<\/a>\u00a0are also executive producers.<\/p>\n

Winslet plays Elena Vernham, a\u00a0dictator<\/a>\u00a0ruling precariously over a fictional\u00a0Central European<\/a>\u00a0country.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The Regime<\/i>\u00a0premiered on March 3, 2024,<\/sup><\/sup>with all six episodes debuting in the US on HBO and Max and in the UK exclusively on\u00a0Sky Atlantic<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Now<\/a>\u00a0from 8 April 2024.<\/sup><\/p>\n

Synopsis<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

The series depicts a year within the palace of a crumbling\u00a0authoritarian<\/a>\u00a0regime.<\/p>\n

<\/sup>\u00a0After not leaving the palace for quite some time, Chancellor Elena Vernham becomes increasingly paranoid and unstable and turns to a volatile soldier, Herbert Zubak, as an unlikely confidant. As Zubak’s influence over the chancellor grows, Elena’s attempts to expand her power eventually result in the palace and the country fracturing around her.[<\/span>7]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
